consultation process

The first step to improving your life is the consultation. This is an opportunity for your personal trainer to find out exactly what it is you want to achieve and any other factors there may be involved. It is also an opportunity for you to assess the personal trainer, to ensure you have the confidence in them to help you achieve your goals.

Kinetic Health and Fitness's consultation form consists of five main sections:

  1. Section one - health check
This section is where your basic health check results will be recorded. This consists of resting heart rate, blood pressure, body composition and peak flow.
  2. Section two - Injury and illness history
Previous injuries and illnesses will have an impact on the type of exercises you are able to perform, and will be used together with a detailed postural analysis to help explain any imbalances exhibited.
  3. Section three - Goal setting
At Kinetic Health and Fitness we always try and set SMART goals. These are goals that are Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-framed. This enables us to keep focused on what we are trying to achieve, and gives us something to measure our success against.
  4. Section four - Current / past exercise
By looking at your current and past exercise habits we can start to try and identify any patterns that have been unsuccessful in the past. It is also important to consider what you enjoy doing, as not everyone is going to be too keen to keep up a half marathon training program if they can't stand running! Your input is essential here, afterall, you are the one who will be doing the program!
  5. Section five - Lifestyle and diet
If you commit to exercising for 4 hours a week, that still leaves 164 hours in the week where you are not exercising. Although this is a good start, it is important to consider lifestyle factors such as occupation and passtimes, as well as nutrition before commencing an exercise routine.
